Staying in a bed and breakfast has some similarities and differences to staying in hotels. It is a completely unique experience in itself. It would be wrong to expect the quick service and complete amenities in the hotel.

If you’re a bed and breakfast virgin, here are a few things to remember to make your stay more convenient.

First, it is important to understand that you’re not staying in an impersonal space. With b & b’s, you’re actually living in somebody’s home. As expected most things that you would find in b & b’s are special items collected over the years, antiques or even heirlooms. They’re no disposable and certainly not replaceable so please exercise care and caution.

Almost every b&b offer refreshments, and sometimes food. There is usually a fridge in the common area. Please remember that most B & B’s do not allow eating and drinking in the rooms.

Don’t forget to ask what amenities are available at the bed and breakfast you are planning to stay in before committing. Many of them usually have bikes, kayaks and other sports equipment to keep guests busy.

Reserve breakfast time as special events. This is a great time to interact with the owners and meet other guests while enjoying a great selection of dishes prepared usually by the homeowner or innkeeper.

If you remember to just follow these general guidelines, you should be fine and have an enjoyable and unforgettable stay at any B & B!
