So our editor Adam Fisher did an early review of the pilot episode of Journeyman and did a great job of giving his own insight into the show. However being that it is a crucial episode, and the first, I thought why not give a second look, a second opinion on the pilot episode. I watched Journeyman originally on Amazon Unbox and now on NBC there have been a few subtle changes, but nothing that changed the storyline from the way in which Adam described it in his review a few weeks ago, so instead of retelling the story again, let’s just get into the review.

Dan on Journeyman

Kevin McKidd stars as Dan Vasser a man with a bit of a troubled past and a somewhat rocky status with his wife. You may recognize Kevin McKidd from his work on HBO’s extremely popular show Rome. The Journeyman waste no time introducing Dan’s ability to go travel through time without any rhyme or reason other then that he had a headache.

The show however is actually pretty interesting, and moves at a pace that takes you on really interesting roller coaster ride from start to finish, however it makes you wonder how long they can keep the pace going for future episodes. One of the big elements that I think the writers can and will expand upon is Dan’s previous love who he lost in what the show hints being an airplane crash or accident where he looses his fiance. Going back in time he is pressured in a situation where he wants to be faithful to his current wife in the present time but still obviously loves his original love. This is one love triangle that I have not seen done before and I think adds a truly great dynamic to the show.

Livia on Journeyman Pilot

Overall I think the conclusion of Journeyman’s Pilot episode was truly remarkable, but I don’t know how far the show can go from here. I loved the pilot, I thought it was brilliant, it lacked a bit of character development, but in general it was an action thrill ride that had me engrossed even on my second watch through.
