Journeyman The Hanged Man Review
There is no show on TV right now that is developing the kind of plot lines, the kind of excitement in my mind then Journeyman, and last nights review of The Hanged Man is a perfect example of what is wrong with American television. Not because this was a bad episode but because this could be one of the last episodes of a great show. To say that last nights episode was engaging could be considered an understatement. The fear in Dan’s eyes, the developing bond between brothers, and the small strings that hold the Vassar family together are all things that make Journeyman a great show.
If you missed last nights episode of The Hanged Man you really did miss out, and need to go watch it as soon as possible. So Dan travels back in time after playing around with Katie and his new digital camera. He comes across a mom and son hanging off a cliff in there RV and he manages to save them dropping his camera while staying in the falling RV. The digital camera is about 15 years before its time and so the repercussions of this are huge. First off technology now in the present is amazing, nano technology abundant although this is only apparent in computers and digital paper. The big blow to Dan was that when he got home there was no son, he then had a daughter. Because of the new technology the original time they had conceived there son was interrupted by a story and they ended up having a girl a few months later. This throws Dan for a loop and of course he has to go get the camera back so he can have his life and his son back.
The connection between Dan and Livia seems to be really tightening up again. Its no longer this “wow I can’t believe your alive” its more what can we do to keep our lives a float. Livia is getting married, her boy friend is going into the Army which we all know could bring some huge plot developments if the show was to continue. Jack is also showing signs of really growing in his brotherly role, he gets to look at Langley’s file on Dan and finds a picture of Dan as a young boy with the scientist that believes in time traveling.
Dan does manage to get his camera back, his son back, but not without a few big plot lines to close the show with. First off a psychic goes on a frenzy when Dan walks in the room, she did some research on his birthday, and there was some sort of astrological event that happened two times in the last 100 years once on his birthday the other on Livia’s birthday. The other big plot line is with Jack and his girlfriend who is now pregnant, this could prove to be a big deal in the future as well.
I have to say that tomorrow’s final episode (if it proves to be the last) should be a great one. If you read the bio which I will post up tomorrow, it looks as though Dan will meet another person who travels through time. One thing is for sure, if the creator (Kevin Falls) says that it closes up a lot of questions, then it should be one heck of an episode.

‘The Hanged Man’ rivals the pilot as being one of the best Journeymans. It had a great twist with the digital camera, and it finally answered an issue I had: how come Katie does not feel changes in time line? Well, this one shows that she does, with Caroline’s presence. Plus it really seemed they spent on this one with the nanotechnology visual effects. There is a nice build-up to the final and with Alex Graves directing tomorrow night, we should be in with a real winner.
