Journeyman The Legend of Dylan McCleen Reviewed
The last few episodes of Journeyman have been a bit formulated, they have followed a rather distinct path, Dan goes back in time when he really cant afford to, and the begining of this episode is no different. We find at the start of the episode Dan and family including his brother and new girlfriend are shopping at an outdoor market when Dan is with his son and he goes on a trip back in time to Dylan McCleen, who from what I have gathered from the episode seems to be a pretty interesting guy that no one really understands what happened to him.
This is really the first episode for a couple new story lines that comes to Journeyman. First off we see for the first time a big problem with Dan and his son. Dan just hasn’t been scoring any points with his wife, and in this episode isn’t doing a whole lot of good for his son as well. Next to that we see for the first time Dan using his ability to travel time to help his newspaper gig, adding a new element to the show that shows a bit of mixing jobs to the mix.
The episode actually adds a lot more to the overall plot line then I expected, it wasn’t a highly marketed episode but it brought up a lot of new ideas. Dan talks in a somewhat hypothetical conversation with the scientist from last episode who flat out said he believes time travel could be possible if it was proven. It was an interesting conversation that could have a lot of potential for future episodes. Also as Dan is about to go for another trip through time no other then his son witnesses him disappear, talk about a tough thing to explain.
Things continue to evolve with the latest trip back in time, and this time Dan sees Livia who tries to help Dan and recommends seeing his dad, now this is just a trip. I am sure many people want to see what there parents were like at different points in there life, but to see Dan’s father in the same office he works at in the current time is actually a really interesting feeling and his Dad actually helps Dan’s search. Dan ends up solving the case and ends up not running with it for a bond he made with the gentleman in the past.
This was by far one of the most engaging and telling episodes of Journeyman thus far this season. First off we learned a lot about Dan, his abilities, his future, his father, and his son now knows that he has “magic”. It is a big episode for Journeyman, and if you missed it, you need to go back and watch it, its one of the best of the year!

Great review. I’ve been watching all the episodes from the beginning and agree that this one was the best so far. The “Magic” line at the end from his son was pretty moving, and I’m a guy. I think this might be my favorite new series. The cast and the acting are top notch and the story lines from episode to episode really tell the greater story. I’m eager to see how long they can keep this series as intriguing as it is. I’ve always been a fan of time travel sci-fi, and so far I haven’t seen them make any obvious timeline mistakes. However, the interaction of a person from the future with the past would theoretically cause a paradox, and Dan changes a lot of things when he is on his journeys. So far he hasn’t managed to warp the fabric of time and destroy the universe. I’m hooked.
