Everybody should keep their health and safety their primary and utmost concern, even while on vacation. It is always a good idea to take your medical history with you when you travel. This way, in an unfortunate even of you having to go tot he hospital while on vacation, your doctors in the area will know how to proceed and deal with you.

A good travel tip is to write down or print out your medical history. This is what you should take down:

  • your name, address, and home phone number as well as your parent’s daytime phone number
  • your blood type
  • immunizations you have had
  • your doctor’s name, address, and office and emergency phone numbers where he/she can be reached
  • the name, address, and phone number of your health insurance carrier, as well asĀ  your policy number
  • a list of any ongoing health problems, such as heart disease,diabetes, asthma and aids or HIV
  • a list of current medications you are taking and your pharmacy’s name and phone number
  • a list of your allergies to medications, food, insects, and animals
  • a prescription for glasses or contact lenses, as well as your eye grade
  • the name, address, and phone number of a relative other than your parent, someone that can be contacted asap!
  • Bring this list with you at all times, just tuck it in your bag or wallet! it could really come in handy and be live saving!
