Shiraz
Once, Shiraz was the capital of Persia currently called Iran during the 18th century. Now, it is only the regional capital of Fars. It is also nicknamed “City of Poets, Wine and Roses.” You may think that Shiraz is a violent city, but actually it is not. It is especially beautiful during the month of April when you can see the orange trees in blossom.
In Shiraz, there are many places which you can visit by foot, since walking is nice here. Although some gardens are gone, there are a few famous ones left worth seeing, like the Eram Garden. It is famous for the cypress trees and the palace placed in the middle.
Because Iran is a devoted Islam country, ancient and beautiful mosques are plenty. One popular mosque is the Vakil Mosque. Near this is the similarly famous Vakil Bazaar. You can buy many exquisite works of handicrafts and jewelries by the Iranians.
Tombs of famous personalities are frequently visited, especially when the tombs are made to be very beautiful. The tomb of Hafez is a good example. He is a very reputable poet and was greatly admired up to now. A very nice tea house is even placed near the tomb.
